Funauki Kaiun operates the regular transportation between Port Shirahama and Port Funauki. It takes approx. 10 minutes.

乗船の流れ

Getting onboard

①Come to the gate the latest 5 minutes before the departure time to Port Shirahama (Boarding starts 10 minutes before departure).

②Enter from the front door and get the ticket at the time of boarding.

③Keep the ticket until you return (for a round trip ticket). The ticket will be collected at the time of boarding from Port Funauki.

Requests for the passengers

Use the rear seats outside.

Passengers with large baggage

Enter from the rear deck and place the baggage. Come to the front door and get a ticket. An additional fee will be charged for carrying a bicycle.

Information about Funauki　

Guest House "Kamadoma-so"

Kamadoma-so is well known for its specialty bread. It also offers marine activity services (snorkeling, fishing) as "Hamago."

Cafe and Guest House "Boo no ie"

The cafe offers wild boar(hunted by the owner) curry or soba noodles. A rental shower room is available in the cafe. Also a new cottage "Yarabu no ki" is newly opened in 2019.

Cafe Ikari

A parlor where you can eat "Okinawan Soba" with pork and Blue Seal Ice Cream. There is also a hot water shower.

Tour guide "Funeya"

Funeya offers a specialized tour around Funauki and Amitori area. Funeya also operates the secret guesthouse called " Oku Iriomote."

Funauki Music Festival

Organized by a local musician, Suguru Ikeda, many visitors come to Funauki Music Festival every year. The event is scheduled for the 3rd Saturday of April every year.

Rules of the vilalge Funauki

Camping is prohibited on Ida beach

Iriomote Island is a national park, and camping is not allowed except the designated area. Camping on Ida beach is also prohibited to protect wild natures. Also, be mindful that Funauki is a segregated area where you cannot get immediate medical support in case of injury.

Do not walk around with just a swimsuit

Do not walk around with a swimsuit in the village as there are many residents are living. Put on your clothes and cover while you are staying in Iriomote island.
